Not exactly news, but an exciting update to yesterday’s post… This morning I discovered that Adobe had sent me the link to download the Skybox plugins for After Effects and Premiere! How very exciting! I have some time now to spend shooting 360 video and learning how to use these new tools! I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m rather excited to see what I can come up with!
It is still relatively “early days” in the realm of shooting and editing 360 footage, but already, Skyox by Mettle has emerged as a leader in VR editing tools. I have been drooling over these tools for months now, but have been unable to justify the expense of them at this point in time. So imagine my surprise and delight when I saw this blog post from Adobe this morning!
“The addition of this amazing collection of SkyBox plug-ins widens our scope. Now polished VR productions with smooth transitions will be easily attainable through integrated workflows in Premiere Pro and After Effects.”
Not only has Adobe acquired these plugins, but they have made them available to those with paid subscriptions to their Creative Cloud service. Well, it just so happens that I have access to just such an account! I have emailed the appropriate people, and I am eagerly awaiting their reply to give me access to the Skybox plugins. All this, and it’s just in time for some creative summer travel videos and the like! I can hardly wait!
Well, it’s now official! We have met the requirements laid out by Google to be considered a “Trusted Photographer” in their Street View program! This is an exciting development for 360 Okanagan… no, we are not now employed by or considered an official representative of Google, but we are considered “good enough” to be trusted by Google to maintain the standards they have set for their Street View program.
I am currently in the process of launching a brand-new business! At the center of this new venture is my love of photography and my discovery of a new technology – the 360° camera. With this little device I now have the ability to capture an image or video clip with just one press of a button that encompass the entire 360 degrees around where the camera is placed! This is opening up a whole new way of looking at things and a whole new way of sharing them.
This new business venture intends to use this amazing technology to help businesses present themselves in new and exciting ways in conjunction with Google Street View and the creation of virtual tours through linking images together.
There are also some real exciting possibilities in the realm of 360° videos. Imagine being able to experience place that you have never physically been to before, or to visit places you may never be able to otherwise.
Right now this industry is still in its infancy, and so is this business. As we learn and experiment we will share these experiences here, so keep following along.
